Born Marilyn Ann Briggs in 1952, Marilyn Chambers began her career as an aspiring model and actress in NYC. She landed spots for Pepsi and Ivory Snow as a model. (In point of fact, her Ivory Snow box is now a collector's item since it debuted on the day Behind the Green Door was released. Ivory Snow quickly pulled the boxes from the shelves.) Disgusted with the casting-couch of the modeling industry, Marilyn moved to Los Angeles to try films. She lost heart and tried erotic dancing. Ready for something new, Chambers went to audition for a film by the Mitchell Brothers and was somewhat reluctant to do the film. The Mitchell Brothers prevailed upon her... her beauty, her financial dire straits. Chambers agreed and took the starring role in 1972's Behind the Green Door. The following year, hot on the success of Behind the Green Door, Chambers starred in the Mitchell Bros. The Resurrection of Eve. The success of these two films solidified Chambers' place in the annals of porn history. With only a small collection of films to her credit, (small by porn industry standards), Chambers was awarded the Adult Video Associations Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992 for the groundbreaking work she had done with the Mitchell Bros. Chambers has gone on to do cable series films and her own Private Fantasies series and currently lives with her 14 year old daughter in Southern California and is considering a deal for a Las Vegas revue. In 1999 she made a comeback with VCA's Still Insatiable. |
